Orientation

Today was patient orientation at TB. There were probably 15-20 people in attendance - half of them patients, half of them people who have come with them. We're all strangers, and yet we're all going through similar experiences. People looked 'normal', for whatever normal can be during these times. No-one looked scared. As we prepare for the big day tomorrow, I'll share some interesting facts that I learned today:

  • 40% of all Canadians will end up having some form of cancer in their lifetime.
  • Cancer patients require 20% more calories to fight the disease.
  • 30 minutes of daily exercise cuts recurrence rates by 40%.
  • Lance Armstrong rode through the Rockies and visited TB in 2007. One of his bike frames & shirts are in a display case at TB.
  • Support the Weekend to End Women's Cancers.
