Genetics
I don't have time to write right now, but it is hereditary. And, although I was hoping for BRCA2, it is BRCA1, which is the worst genetic mutation as it has the highest risk of breast and ovarian cancers. This particular mutation (the addition of a specific exon) had only been recorded 39 times and is carried back to a 'founder' (first person with the mutation) in northern Britain. I went to get tested immediately after, but it'll be a two month wait. Fingers crossed. It's a 50:50 gamble for me right now. With BRCA1, your risk of getting breast cancer goes up to 66%, and your chance for getting ovarian cancer goes up to 45%.
